A National Historic Preservation

Ripple Hall of Fame Museum and Memorial is an educational institution dedicated to preserving the history of post-riot collaborations, honoring its outstanding contributors and connecting past and future generations. This annual forum recognizes the contributions of unsung, heroic, and cross-cultural contributions that rebuilt the Rochester community.  By sharing positive models, educating people about the past, celebrating, and inspiring attendees, we will rekindle and uplift the spirit of humanity in Rochester.

Join us as we celebrate the theme: “We Need Jobs,” and showcase collaborations that pioneered job creation models to improve employment conditions, disparities, and racial divides in Rochester, NY.

The True Legacy of ’64: Spirit of Humanity

The Spirit of Humanity and the true Legacy of ’64 were among the many discoveries obtained from the oral research conducted by Dr. Melody Cofield and funded by the Rochester Area Community Foundation. From the interviews, we learned that many post-riot collaborations had positive ripple effects that not only touched and transformed lives locally but also across the globe. Given the recent surge of race tensions, it is important for us to understand that to create a better future we must not forget our history---even when it is obscure.

The Legacy of ’64 Movement

We believe we stand at a critical moment in world history, a time when humanity must choose its future. As the world becomes increasingly interdependent and fragile, the future holds both great peril and great promise.  To move forward, we must recognize that in the midst of a magnificent diversity of cultures we are one human family and one community with a common destiny. We must join together to bring forth a sustainable global society founded on respect, universal human rights, economic justice, and a culture of peace. Towards this end, it is imperative that we, the people, declare our responsibility to one another, to the greater good for community of life, and to future generations.
